Juan Lobato, Chief Executive Officer
An accomplished entrepreneur with deep expertise in building high-growth teams, Juan co-founded Ebury in 2009 to simplify how businesses transact globally.
Before his entrepreneurial journey, he was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, focusing on technology and telecommunication. He is also a venture partner with 83North (formerly Greylock Israel), where he invests in SaaS, payments, cyber insurance, and fintech.
Juan holds a Master's degree in Engineering from Universidad Politecnica of Madrid and a Master's degree in Economics. He has also served as a lieutenant in the Spanish Army.
Ana Muñoz, Chief Financial Officer
Ana is the Group Chief Financial Officer at Ebury, overseeing the company's financial operations. She joined Ebury in 2017 and has since held key roles such as Head of FP&A, Chief of Staff, and Head of Corporate Finance and Finance Director.
Ana plays an instrumental role in developing finance business support capabilities. Before Ebury, she worked at Alantra on the Corporate Portfolio Advisory team, providing sell-side and buy-side advisory services to financial institutions, global hedge, and private equity funds.
She holds a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering.
Duarte Libano-Monteiro, Chief Business Officer
Duarte has over 20 years of banking and financial industry experience. Since joining Ebury in 2014 as Country Manager for Spain and Portugal, Duarte has significantly expanded business in both countries. He has also expanded operations in Italy and Greece and, in parallel, built the Chilean and Mexican businesses.
His vast global experience spans LATAM, Southern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with senior roles at Equifax, EDP, Barclays Bank, and Grupo Banco Popular.
Duarte is also a Co-founder of the Spanish and Portuguese Fintech and Insurtech Associations. Duarte holds an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business.
Zafeer Ahmed, Chief Revenue Officer
Zafeer is a seasoned professional in the banking and financial industry with over 13 years of distinguished experience in trading, FX risk management, and strategy.
He began his journey at Ebury in 2011 as a Business Developer and later transitioned to the dealing team. He eventually progressed to the role of Global Head of FX Dealing in 2019 and most recently advanced to the position of Chief Revenue Officer.
He is known for his keen focus on data, customer experience, and strategic initiatives, which have significantly contributed to revenue growth and enhanced customer retention. He has earned a degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Bristol.
Enrique Colin, Chief Product, Technology and Data Officer
Enrique has over a decade of experience in data, crypto, and capital markets.
He first joined Ebury in 2014 and progressed to VP of Data in 2021, having built the Data & Analytics team. He later joined GSR Markets as VP of Analytics before returning to Ebury as SVP of Product in 2023. He now leads product strategy and technical delivery.
Enrique is passionate about solving customer problems at the intersection of finance and data. He holds a Master's in Industrial Engineering from ICAI University in Madrid.
David Sirignano, Chief Operations Officer
David is Ebury's Chief Operations Officer and leads the company's daily operations, client onboarding, IT Services and cyber security.
He brings over 15 years of expertise in operating and ushering transformation in complex environments. With a strong risk management foundation, he previously served as Ebury's Chief Risk Officer.
Before joining Ebury, David built his career in cyber and information security within the financial services and public sectors, following his service in military intelligence. David holds an MSc in Information Security and a BSc in Intelligence and Security.
Esther Illana, Chief Strategy Officer
Esther is the Chief Strategy Officer at Ebury, leveraging over fifteen years of strategic expertise. She sets the direction for the company's strategic goals and drives M&A at Ebury. Prior to this role, she established and led Ebury's product team, propelling the development of the product division, strategy and launch of key products.
Before Ebury, Esther spent six years at McKinsey & Company's digital division, where she managed strategy and digital transformation initiatives, particularly for financial institutions and retail.
Her academic credentials include an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Telecommunications Engineering degree from Universidad de Deusto.
Enrique Diaz, Chief Economist
Enrique brings over 20 years of experience in risk management and capital markets, having held leadership roles at hedge funds and investment banks. He oversees financial risk analysis, monitoring, underwriting and mitigation at Ebury.
Previously, he was a portfolio manager at JBS and Managing Director at Societe Generale, leading a proprietary trading desk. He also worked in capital allocation and trading roles at Norodin and Vega Hedge Funds after beginning his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.
Enrique holds a PhD in Engineering from Cornell University and is a CFA charter holder.
Lucy Newton, Chief Legal Officer
Lucy is the Chief Legal Officer at Ebury, where she oversees legal, corporate governance, intellectual property and litigation matters.
She previously worked as a finance lawyer at Allen & Overy and also completed a secondment at Deutsche Bank.
Lucy earned her degree in Law from the University of Warwick.
Jose Garcia Esteban, Managing Director - Brazil
Jose Esteban serves as the Managing Director overseeing Ebury's Brazilian operations. He is also a member of the Executive Committee and a Board Member for several of our subsidiaries.
Prior to Ebury, Jose spent almost a decade in leadership roles at Banco Santander and most recently served as Managing Director and CFO for the Brazilian wholesale operations. Before his tenure at Banco Santander, Jose spent almost nine years in leadership roles in structured capital markets at BNP Paribas and Deutsche Bank.
He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Lois Hamilton-Chan, Chief Compliance Officer and Group MLRO
Lois is a highly accomplished and experienced compliance and financial crime professional with over 12 years of experience across tier-1 banks, brokerage firms, and fintechs.
She boasts an impressive legal background and spent her career honing and developing a deep knowledge of regulation, products, systems, and controls. With her highly specialised knowledge and skills, she has contributed extensively to expanding Ebury’s global footprint. Lois joined Ebury in 2019 as Group Chief Compliance Officer and Group MLRO.
Prior to this, Lois was the Head of Financial Crime, Europe at ED&F Man Capital Markets, and earlier as Director, Deputy MLRO and Regional AMLO for Europe at CIBC Capital Markets.
Kees Veerman, Managing Director - Europe, UK, Switzerland, and Canada
Kees Veerman brings over 11 years of extensive experience in sales and leadership. He started his journey at Ebury in 2014, focusing on foreign exchange sales. Over time, he progressed to the role of Global Head of Sales in 2021, and most recently, he has taken on the role of Managing Director in Europe, the UK, Switzerland, and Canada.
Kees's problem-solving skills and customer-centric approach have played an instrumental role in driving substantial revenue growth. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
Tom Davies, Managing Director - Middle East and Africa
A dynamic professional leading commercial activity across the Middle East and Africa, Tom has over 15 years of experience spanning multiple geographies, driving business growth and building high-performing teams.
Tom's journey at Ebury began in 2011 in FX Sales, and he was made a Partner in 2014. In 2017, he became Country Manager for Switzerland, establishing a subsidiary. Having worked in Zurich for over four years, he returned to London in 2020 to steer the commercial business in the UK. He became Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa in 2023.
Having completed his BA Hons from the University of Exeter, he is devoted to leveraging Ebury's global capabilities whilst building local infrastructure and teams to provide customers with a first-class experience.
Rick Roache, Managing Director - APAC
Rick brings over two decades of experience in foreign exchange, trade finance, and cross-border payment solutions.
Since joining Ebury, he has played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth across Australia, New Zealand, and other key markets by servicing the complex FX and hedging needs of SMEs and institutional clients with tailored solutions.
Before joining Ebury, he began his career with ANZ and spent over nine years at World First, where he spearheaded the Corporate Dealing and Structuring desk. Rick holds a B.A. in Finance and Economics from the University of Otago.
David Brito, Country Manager - Brazil
David has more than 16 years of work experience in leading and implementing strategic projects for large and global corporates.
Prior to his current position at Ebury, he served as the Country Manager - Portugal, where he strengthened and expanded the company's presence in the region. Before Ebury, he worked for Barclays Bank for over nine years, where he managed large corporate accounts.
He holds a Bachelor's degree from ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics and Management.
Owain Walters, Head of Mass Payments
Owain has over 20 years of financial services experience in asset management, hedge funds, and FX, during which he held various leadership roles, including Chief Operations Officer.
At Ebury, he spearheads the Mass Payments division and is responsible for commercials, operations, client servicing and products. Before his current role, he founded Frontier Pay Ltd. in 2009, which was later acquired by Ebury in 2020.
He is also a Board Member of regulated Ebury entities in the UK, UAE, and Singapore and 14 other companies across the GCC and Africa.
Menne Mennes, Managing Director - Mifid & EIS
Menne has over 15 years of experience in banking, treasury, and payments.
With Ebury, he served as the Managing Director - Benelux and now oversees the development of Ebury Institutional. Before Ebury, he was the Chief Commercial Officer of an e-commerce focused payment institution and held senior roles at McKinsey & Company and the Netherlands Ministry of Finance.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder and holds an MSc in Financial Engineering and Risk Management from HEC Lausanne.
Thomas Swanson, Chief Risk Officer
Brought to establish and set up the firm Third Line of Defence, Thomas is the Chief Risk Officer with direct reporting responsibilities to the EPL Board. Previously, Thomas held senior roles within Internal Audit at Banco Santander and Lloyds Banking Group, with over 20 years of experience in top-tier institutions.
He partners closely with both first- and second-line functional teams to develop and deliver full audit coverage of the firm's key risk areas while overseeing the operation of the internal audit team across various jurisdictions and legal entities.
Thomas holds a BSc in Economics and certification in Risk & Internal Audit from the Insitute of Internal Auditors.
