Ebury strengthens Sports Finance growth with Real Betis partnership

  • Ebury will be the club’s Official Partner until June 2028
  • The partnership will support Real Betis’ international operations through Ebury’s expertise in international payments and currency risk management

Ebury, the global financial solutions firm, and Real Betis Balompié have signed a strategic sponsorship agreement under which the financial institution will become the Club's Official Transfer Partner for the next two seasons.

In addition to becoming one of its official partners, the alliance will allow Real Betis to draw on the company's experience and technology to optimise its international operations, manage payments across multiple currencies, and hedge foreign exchange risk - areas of growing importance in the day-to-day activity of major sporting institutions.

Founded in 1907 and based in Seville, Real Betis competes in LaLiga, Spain’s top-tier football division, and is one of the country’s most recognised football clubs, with a passionate supporter base and growing international profile.

The agreement, signed today in Seville by Luis Merino, General Manager of Ebury in Spain, and Ramón Alarcón, CEO of Real Betis Balompié, runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2028.

As part of this collaboration, Ebury will have a presence across the Club's main communication channels, both digital and physical, and the two organisations have committed to developing a joint programme of initiatives aimed at Seville and Andalusia's business community, with the goal of bringing specialist solutions in international payments, foreign exchange risk management and international expansion closer to local companies.

Luis Merino, General Manager of Ebury in Spain, said: "This agreement brings together two organisations with a clear international outlook. Real Betis is a hugely prestigious sporting brand with growing global reach, while Ebury has spent more than fifteen years helping companies and institutions operate securely in international markets. We want to bring our expertise in international payments and foreign exchange risk management to the Club, while jointly developing initiatives that bring these solutions closer to Andalusian businesses."

Maurits Zwart, Co-Head of Sports at Ebury, highlights the strategic value of the alliance: "Modern football operates in a global, competitive market. Crossborder efficiency and risk mitigation around transfers or commercial rights are now essential. We are delighted to add Real Betis to our international portfolio. Through Ebury Sports Finance, we will optimise the Club's financial operations and connect directly with its corporate ecosystem."

Ramón Alarcón, CEO of Real Betis Balompié, added: "Bringing Ebury on board gives us a partner with specialist expertise in an area that is increasingly strategic for a club with international activity. As well as strengthening our sponsorship structure, this alliance gives us access to advanced financial solutions to manage our international operations more efficiently and opens up new opportunities for collaboration with the business community."

The agreement with Real Betis extends the sports sponsorship strategy that Ebury pursues as a way of combining brand positioning, business relationship-building and the provision of specialist financial services within the sports sector. The company created a dedicated division for this purpose, Ebury Sports Finance, which works with sports clubs and institutions on the management of international payments, treasury and foreign exchange risk arising from transfers, commercial rights, sponsorships and cross-border operations.

Internationally, Ebury works with clubs such as Aston Villa FC, Fulham FC, Rangers FC, PSV Eindhoven, Parma Calcio 1913 and Standard Liège, while in Spain it holds sponsorship agreements with the Real Federación Española de Rugby and CD Leganés, among other organisations.
