- Ebury opens its new headquarters after almost a decade of consolidation in the Portuguese market.
- Portugal remains a key market in Ebury’s European strategy.
Ebury, a fintech specialising in international transactions, FX risk management and trade finance, has opened its new headquarters in Lisbon, in the Castilho 26 building. The space reaffirms the company’s position as a leader in the Portuguese market for financial solutions for SMEs that import or export.
Since it began operating in Portugal in 2017, Ebury has established itself as a pioneer in foreign exchange services for small and medium-sized businesses. Almost ten years on, the move reflects the maturity of the Portuguese operation and its ability to add new client segments, from growing companies to mid-caps and corporate institutions.
The company currently has more than 40 employees in Portugal, split between Lisbon and Porto, and operates as one of the best-established institutions in this market segment.
“This move is the natural reflection of almost ten years of continuous work in Portugal. It is not just a bigger office. It is also a statement that Portugal is a strategic market for Ebury. We are in a phase of consolidating our growth and in a strong position to continue leading this segment,” says Gonçalo Vilas Boas, Country Manager of Ebury in Portugal.
Ebury’s Portuguese operation is a success story of a foreign institution that has put down deep roots in the local market. Through strategic partnerships with chambers of commerce and associations, and its closeness to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, Ebury has been a driver of financial innovation, helping Portuguese companies overcome geographical and currency barriers.
The new space also expands local, multilingual client service capacity, a distinctive element of the company’s value proposition, and enables a broader range of tailored solutions.
Ebury currently operates in more than 30 regulated markets worldwide, with more than 50 offices, serving more than 27,000 clients and processing 1.9 million payments annually. Portugal remains one of the strongest and most strategic markets in the company’s European network.
