Ebury Partners Lithuania expands license with the Bank of Lithuania to offer comprehensive Payment Services

  • The Lithuanian regulator authorizes the entity to expand its operations beyond money remittances, enabling the execution of transactions, issuance of payment instruments, and processing of incoming payments.

Ebury, the global fintech specializing in financial solutions for international businesses, has announced a significant expansion of its operational capabilities in the Baltic region. Following a review of the application and documentation provided by the subsidiary, the Bank of Lithuania (Lietuvos bankas) has approved the extension of Ebury Partners Lithuania UAB’s payment institution license.

Ebury Partners Lithuania UAB, which obtained its original license in the country in 2021, had previously focused exclusively on money remittance services. With this regulatory update, the company will significantly expand its activities to offer a comprehensive suite of payment services. Moving forward, the entity is authorized to execute payment transactions into and from payment accounts, issue payment instruments, and manage the processing of incoming payments for its clients.

"This license expansion represents a key strategic milestone to consolidate our value proposition in the region. Our goal is to provide local and international businesses with a robust, secure, and truly global payment infrastructure that eliminates operational friction and drives their growth" says Marius Bausys, Country Manager for Lithuania & Latvia at Ebury.

The primary benefit of this authorization is that we will now be able to offer collections accounts under our local entity, Ebury Partners Lithuania. We are now authorized to offer these accounts with a level of agility and local integration that we were not well-positioned to provide previously. This is a critical development, as it significantly enhances our ability to serve exporters in the region, helping them manage their cross-border operations more efficiently.

This milestone reinforces the company’s international growth strategy. Since 2025, Ebury Partners Lithuania UAB has been integrated into the global structure of the Ebury group, founded in the United Kingdom in 2009. The group currently boasts a robust international footprint spanning Europe, North America, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Furthermore, this regulatory endorsement consolidates the institutional standing of the entity, whose majority shareholder is the Spanish financial group Santander, one of the largest banking institutions in the European Union.
